ECG rhythm recognition and basic airway management

This half-day workshop will provide the theory and practice that underpin ECG rhythm recognition and basic airway management to ensure best practice and patient safety are maintained.

At the end of the course participants should be able to understand:
• The reason for ECG monitoring
• How to monitor the ECG
• How to recognize rhythms associated with cardiac arrest
• How to identify other common arrhythmias
• The causes and recognition of airway obstruction
• Techniques for basic airway management when starting resuscitation
• The use of simple adjuncts to maintain airway patency
• The use of simple devices for ventilating the lungs
