Medical emergencies for family practitioners

One-day course designed for family practitioners with an interest in managing medical emergencies.

At the end of the course participants should be able to understand:
• How to identify and treat patients at risk of deterioration using an ABCDE (Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure) approach
• How to recognize rhythms associated with cardiac arrest
• How to identify common arrhythmias
• Techniques for basic airway management
• The use of simple adjuncts to maintain airway patency
• The use of simple devices for ventilating the lungs
• Current management of common medical emergencies
